Key Responsibilities
Recruitment assessments
- Conduct theory, pre-start inspection and practical assessments of driver and operator applicants.
- Verify licences, SIO certificates and work history; confirm documents are genuine and current.
- Give a clear recommendation (suitable / suitable with training / not suitable) to HR and Operations.
Existing workforce assessments
- Run a scheduled competency assessment program for all current drivers and operators.
- Assess after incidents, near misses, long absences or a move to new equipment.
- Write individual competency reports with findings, risk rating and recommended actions.
Training
- Design and deliver practical and classroom training to close identified gaps.
- Coach on defensive driving, load restraint, fatigue management, rigging, load charts and lift planning.
- Re-assess after training and sign off competency only when the standard is met.
- Support staff through external SIM and SIO certification and renewals.
Records, standards and safety
- Keep the competency matrix and training records accurate and audit-ready.
- Track licence and SIO expiry dates and alert managers before they lapse.
- Develop and update assessment checklists, SOPs and toolbox talk materials.
- Report trends to management and recommend improvements to equipment, procedures and safety culture.
- Stop unsafe work immediately when observed.
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
- Minimum 7 years' hands-on experience operating heavy vehicles and/or lifting equipment, including at least 3 years in a trainer, assessor, supervisor or lead-operator role.
- Valid SIM B II Umum.
- Valid Kemnaker SIO for crane operation (mobile and/or crawler); SIO for forklift and reach stacker is an advantage.
- Practical knowledge of load charts, lift planning, rigging and slinging, and load restraint.
- Good working knowledge of Indonesian K3 regulations for lifting and transport equipment.
- Minimum SMA/SMK education; D3/S1 in engineering, transport or K3 is an advantage
Highly regarded:
- BNSP Competency Assessor (Asesor Kompetensi) certification.
- Certified trainer / instructor qualification (e.g. Kemnaker or BNSP).
- Ahli K3 Umum or K3 Pesawat Angkat & Angkut certification.
- Rigger / Juru Ikat certificate and defensive driving instructor certificate.
- Experience in ports, container terminals, mining, oil & gas or project logistics.
Skills and Personal Attributes:
- Uncompromising commitment to safety, with the confidence to say "no" to unsafe work.
- Fair, objective and consistent judgement when assessing others.
- Patient, clear communicator who can teach operators of all experience levels.
- Strong report writing in Bahasa Indonesia; working English is an advantage.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office or Google Workspace) for records and reports.
- Physically fit, able to work outdoors and on site, and willing to travel.
- Honest and discreet when handling assessment results and personal records.
